Meta's Muse can fill out your quote form and email your office (Meta, Sept. 8, 2026), and a US calling beta lets it phone you. It reaches the same customer-facing channels your team already uses. Preparing those channels is the first step toward winning customers who send an assistant to do the legwork.
Last verified: November 1, 2026.
We believe everyone will eventually have a superintelligent chief of staff: an AI that knows their preferences, researches options and handles tasks on their behalf. Choosing a contractor will be one of those tasks. That is the future we're building Cheers for, and Muse is one of the products making the direction concrete.
This week, test the path an assistant would take to request a quote and add an AI-assistant option to your "How did you hear about us?" question.

How a Muse request reaches your company today
Muse reaches a contractor the way a customer does, through your website, quote form, inbox and, in the calling beta, phone line. It fills forms in a browser like a person, so the checks in can AI agents book appointments from your website apply to it too.
The one public test with local service companies came from Yahoo Finance's Daniel Howley, who asked Muse for quotes from local movers. After collecting his addresses, bedroom count and contact details, it "found four different companies in my area and sent out my request for quotes," and two movers were calling him about two minutes later. The article doesn't say where Muse found them, how it sent the requests or whether it called anyone itself.
In our ad, I describe where I think this is going: customers will delegate the search, comparison and first contact to an assistant. A contractor will need to earn the recommendation and be easy for that assistant to reach.
The shift we're preparing for:
- "Skyrocketed past 45%": the ad points to the rapid growth of AI-led discovery. BrightLocal's 2026 survey measured 45% of US adults using AI for local business recommendations in the past year, up from 6% in 2025 (BrightLocal, Feb. 11, 2026). We expect that adoption to keep growing; how consumers use AI to find local businesses explains the opportunity.
- "Call their dentist, book an appointment": these are the everyday errands we expect personal agents to take over. Meta launched Muse with forms, email, negotiation and travel booking, then added a US calling beta. Booking from Meta's glasses is on its announced roadmap.
- "Find the top 3 companies near me" and "the agent will be the one reading your website": that is the buying journey I expect. A homeowner gives the assistant a job; the assistant researches companies and makes contact. Your reviews, listings and website need to make a convincing, consistent case for choosing you.
DataDome, a bot-protection vendor, reported in October that Muse doesn't tell the sites it visits that it's an AI agent. Of the Muse requests it sampled, 8.9% reached sensitive steps such as forms, logins and payments, and forms made up 81% of those, counting requests rather than finished submissions (PPC Land, Oct. 15, 2026).
Amazon blocked Muse from shopping for users on Sept. 20, SiliconANGLE reported, and Walmart, a Muse retail partner, said its blocks "weren't intentional"; TechCrunch pointed to a prove-you're-human button that can boot the agent out (TechCrunch, Oct. 6, 2026). Yelp told TechCrunch it "doesn't permit non-human traffic on its platform" unless the agent pays for access.
That kind of check sits on contractor sites too. On Nov. 1, Cheers read 1,096 US home-service contractor homepages from Google's local map results: a CAPTCHA script loaded on 16.8% of re-fetched homepages and 30.9% of those with a form, and 3.9% of sites refused our scripted fetch with a 403. A loading script doesn't mean a visitor sees a challenge, and our script isn't Muse's full browser, so we don't know how Muse handles any of it. The VPN test below is the closest check for your own form.

Our agent-readiness census found no MCP server card, Personal Agent Protocol file or A2A agent card in the responses we could read. The immediate opportunity is in the customer-facing website: clear business information, working forms and an obvious way to book. Add new protocols as agents and scheduling vendors adopt them.
Between Oct. 20 and 30, I brought Muse up on 8 of my 15 sales and partner calls, and nobody raised it before I did. That is why I see an opening to prepare early. Start identifying agent-led enquiries now, while your team can learn the workflow before it becomes routine.

Prepare your public channels while connectors develop
Neither connector page lists a local-services category: the Muse Connector Platform lists no categories, and the Meta AI connectors preview names fitness, productivity, entertainment and smart home. Muse for Small Business connects an owner's own tools, such as HighLevel and QuickBooks, and nothing in TechCrunch's coverage says a customer's Muse reaches you through it.
Meta's crawler page lists no Muse user agent (Meta for Developers). PPC Land reported that a DataDome researcher has seen Meta "silently testing Web Bot Auth," a way for a site to check that a visit really came from Meta, though still on "a relatively small number of requests." Meta hasn't announced it.
A robots.txt rule for meta-externalagent, Meta's training crawler, doesn't touch Muse, though 5.9% of contractor sites with a valid robots.txt block it. Which AI crawlers to allow walks through each token.
Google's calling feature is further along, with Business Profile settings for automated calls; how Google's AI phone calls reach local service businesses covers them.
What to do this month
Start your own count. Add "an AI assistant or agent (Muse, ChatGPT, Gemini, other)" to "How did you hear about us?" on every web form and in the CSR intake script, and have CSRs tag calls that open with "I'm calling on behalf of," noting whether the caller said it was an AI. Meta gives businesses no way to see Muse contacts, so this is your best label, though it won't catch an agent that never says what it is. An office manager can add both by Friday, and a central marketing team can push them to every location that week.
The other four take less explaining.
- Give every CSR one script for anyone calling on a homeowner's behalf, AI or person: the same service-area check and open slots, no discount you wouldn't give the homeowner (Muse can negotiate), no card numbers by voice, and any slot penciled in until the homeowner confirms.
- Test your quote form from a laptop with a VPN on, since a VPN's data-center exit is a rough stand-in for Muse's cloud computer. If the form challenges you or won't go through, take that to your web vendor.
- Put your service area, hours, services, a starting price or range and how to book in plain text on the site, so an agent has a price to quote without a callback; whether to publish prices covers showing a range without boxing in your techs.
- Prepare your public website and booking path now. Add a Muse connector when your scheduling vendor supports one, and use documented agent identities for any allow-list. Your existing forms, inbox and phone line are the routes you can improve today.
What would change this page
- A US local-services connector, the first route into a contractor's own systems.
- A Muse calling help page with a disclosure line, caller ID or business opt-out.
- A documented Muse user agent or signing key directory.
- Human-placed calls, or glasses booking, going live.
- A Personal Agent Protocol release past the draft spec; Sierra said on Oct. 6 it's developing the protocol with Meta.

Method
On Nov. 1, 2026, Cheers read the homepages of 1,096 US home-service contractor websites drawn from Google's local map results, with Cheers customers removed; 976 homepages were readable as served. The crawl ran from 06:57 to 07:00 UTC with a script sending browser headers, and 922 homepages answered a second fetch at 12:54 UTC. We read raw HTML without running JavaScript, so every presence rate is a floor, and we read homepages and robots.txt files only and submitted no forms; 947 of the sites had a valid robots.txt file.
"A CAPTCHA script loads" means the page loads reCAPTCHA, hCaptcha, Turnstile or similar code, not that a visitor sees a challenge. The 430 homepages "with a form" are the re-fetched ones with a form of any kind, search and newsletter boxes included, and a CAPTCHA script loaded on 133 of them. Visible-widget markup showed up on only 3.4% of re-fetched homepages, and we didn't check which element a script protects. Re-weighting the sample to all the sites it was drawn from moved none of the 15 rates we checked, the 16.8% among them, by more than 3.0 points.
Of the 1,096 sites, 43 refused our scripted homepage fetch with a 403. Our script isn't a full browser like the one Muse runs, so that rate tells you how a site treats a simple script, not how it treats Muse. The full method is in our agent-readiness census.
In the list's status labels, "Meta" means a Meta page says it, and "Press" means a named outlet reported it but no Meta page we read documents it. "Not found" means we searched Meta's pages and the trade press on Nov. 1 and came up empty. Every Muse line in the list and the timeline comes from a page we opened on Nov. 1, 2026.
Sources not linked above: TechCrunch, Sept. 23 and Meta's Sept. 24 Connect recap on connectors and glasses booking; 9to5Mac, Sept. 18 and TechCrunch, Sept. 25 on the app ranking and Meta's promotion; SiliconANGLE, Sept. 21 on Amazon; TechCrunch, Sept. 29 on Muse for Small Business; and Sierra, Oct. 6 on the Personal Agent Protocol.
The download, user and traffic figures come from Sensor Tower and DataDome, not from Meta. DataDome sells bot protection and hasn't said how big its network is. BrightLocal's 2026 survey covered 1,002 US adults.
The Cheers Market Baseline is our own research panel: every week it asks ChatGPT, Google AI Mode and Gemini the same 32 home-service questions in 100 metro areas, 60 in the US and 40 in Canada. Muse isn't one of them, so nothing on this page measures Muse's answers.
We went back through the 224 calls we logged from Sept. 1 to Oct. 30, mostly with customers, prospects and partners. It was a targeted search, not a full read of every call. Nobody reported a call, message or booking from Muse, and we asked directly about AI agents calling for quotes on only two of them; neither question named Muse. The 8 of 15 count comes from rereading 15 of my sales, customer and partner calls from Oct. 20 to 30.
