Meta says Muse, its personal AI agent, runs on its own cloud computer, where it can open a browser and fill out forms for the person using it (Meta Newsroom, Sept. 8, 2026). Prepare for quote requests that come through a customer's assistant. Start with these seven fixes; an office manager can test most of them in an afternoon, and each one improves a real path to the branch.
Last verified: November 1, 2026.
Status as of Nov. 1, 2026. The office manager can test fixes 1, 2, 3 and 5 alone; fixes 4 and 7 need the web vendor, and fix 6 needs whoever sets your prices. Run the list once per branch.
The seven fixes and their tests
- Fix 1, quote form: requests from a phone on cellular data and a laptop on a VPN reach your inbox or CRM, and a person replies within 15 minutes in business hours; a blocked request shows an error and your phone number. Market base rate: a CAPTCHA script loads on 30.9% of re-fetched homepages with a form.
- Fix 2, inbox: an email to your contact-page address from an address you've never used gets a reply from a person the same business day. Base rate: not measured.
- Fix 3, caller rule: a test call that opens "I'm calling on behalf of..." gets the homeowner's details taken, the same range and trip fee a homeowner would hear, and a slot or booking link. Base rate: not measured.
- Fix 4, phone number: each branch page has a tap-to-call link and a stable branch number as the default in its HTML and LocalBusiness schema, and the profile shows it or one that routes to the same branch. Base rate: 86.0% have a tap-to-call link, 47.0% put the phone in LocalBusiness schema and 44.9% do both.
- Fix 5, Book link: each branch book link and profile Book button opens that branch's scheduler or request form in a private window, with no login. Base rate: 9.4% of competitor listings showed a booking link.
- Fix 6, prices: your top three service pages show a starting price or range, mandatory fees included or right beside it, and what moves it; profile services carry a price in the price field, never in the business name, description or custom service names. Base rate: 3 of 976 put a real price in schema, and 23.5% show any dollar amount, coupons included.
- Fix 7, bot rules: the vendor lists every bot, firewall and challenge rule in writing, says which touch the quote and booking pages, and shows a cloud-hosted browser request getting through or reaching a fallback a person can use. Base rate: 42.0% sit behind Cloudflare, and 3.9% refused our scripted fetch with a 403.
Base rates come from our Nov. 1 census of US home-service contractor websites from Google's local map results and our competitor-listing scans; the homepage and listing rates are floors, and Method has the bases.
1. A quote form a cloud-hosted visitor can get through
In a test Yahoo Finance published on Sept. 23, Muse sent a reporter's moving request to four companies, and about two minutes later two of the movers were calling him. That's one test, with movers, but it shows what a request answered tomorrow morning is up against.
After users complained that Muse couldn't finish purchases on Walmart's site, TechCrunch reported on Oct. 6 that an agent interrupted by the site's prove-you're-human button gets booted out; Walmart said the blocks weren't intentional.
Fix 1: the quote form
About 3 in 10 contractor homepages with a form load a CAPTCHA script
30.9%
of re-fetched contractor homepages with a form of any kind (search and newsletter forms included) loaded a CAPTCHA script
Base: 133 of 430 re-fetched US home-service contractor homepages with a form, Nov 1, 2026
16.8%
of all re-fetched contractor homepages loaded a CAPTCHA script
155 of 922, Nov 1, 2026
81%
of the Muse requests that reached sensitive flows in DataDome's sample were form requests
DataDome Q3 2026: 8.9% of sampled Muse requests reached a sensitive flow; DataDome sells bot protection and hasn't published its network size
19.85%
of agentic sessions in Microsoft Clarity's study included a submit-form event
5.2 million+ sessions, Aug 13 to Sept 9, 2026; OpenAI, Google and Anthropic agents, not Muse; events overlap and don't show a finished task

Test your form from outside the office. A VPN exits from a data-center network, which makes a laptop on one a rough stand-in for Muse's cloud computer; then have the web vendor repeat the test from a cloud-hosted browser, the closer match.
If the spam filter stops a test request, keep protection on but ask the vendor for a setup that lets a real request through. A blocked visitor should never land on a fake thank-you page that quietly drops the lead.
2. An inbox that answers the same day
Meta lists email among Muse's tasks, and in the Yahoo test the movers who didn't call sent emails instead. An automatic acknowledgment doesn't count as a reply, and if nobody answers, check the shared inbox's spam folder before you blame the team.
3. One rule for callers acting for a homeowner
Muse's beta for calls to US businesses expanded on Sept. 16, in an X post by Ryan Fox that TechCrunch reported the next day, and nothing public says how those calls open, what caller ID shows or whether a business can opt out.
Your CSR can't reliably tell an agent from a concierge or a relative calling for the homeowner, so give every CSR one written rule for any caller who says "I'm calling on behalf of": take the homeowner's name, address and callback number, quote the way you'd quote the homeowner, and offer a slot or the booking link.
Start measuring these enquiries at the branch. Add an AI-assistant answer to "How did you hear about us?" on the intake form, and tag calls where the assistant identifies itself.
4. The phone number you want repeated, on your own site
In the same Yahoo test, Muse suggested a restaurant that had been closed for years and said it had "made up the first phone number out of thin air."
We've measured a version of this in ChatGPT, a different product. When we checked 900 phone numbers ChatGPT printed in October 2026 against each business's own website, 17.6% of the US numbers we could check (66 of 374) weren't on the site in the pages we checked, and none of the confirmed nonmatches matched the single-digit or transposition errors we checked. In the US the share was 41.0% when the site ran a call-tracking script, against 12.1% when it didn't.
That isn't an argument to rip out call tracking; you can keep it and still give agents one stable number per branch in each branch page's LocalBusiness schema, the structured data that tells search engines your name, address and phone. Our multi-location schema guide shows how.
5. A Book link that works logged out
Without a connector, an agent that books online has to use the same scheduler a person does. Google lets an owner mark one of up to 10 booking links per category "Business preferred," but some links appear automatically from booking partners, and Google's help page says local business links cannot be set through the API or a spreadsheet upload. Its separate Place Actions API reference describes merchant appointment links. The documentation differs, so verify which link type your tool supports and confirm the result on the public profile. Confirm the destination by opening the public button.
If a Book button vanished or points somewhere you didn't choose, start with why Google removes booking links. A working link is only the first step; the full path an agent has to finish is in our guide to agent-ready booking.
6. Price ranges where agents read them
An agent asked for quotes needs something to compare, so give your top three service pages a starting price or range and say what moves it, such as after-hours work or the size of the system; our pricing guide covers which ranges to publish when the final price depends on an inspection.
A trip or diagnostic fee you charge on every job belongs inside that number or right beside it, and in California, inside it: since July 1, 2024, the state has barred advertising a price that doesn't include all mandatory fees or charges, other than government taxes and fees and reasonable shipping (California Attorney General). Elsewhere, check your state's rule.
On the profile, Google's services help lets you add a price to each service and warns against prices in custom service names. Google's Oct. 6, 2026 "For merchants" clause bars "pricing" in "the listing" without saying what that covers, so keep prices in the service price field.
7. Bot rules your web vendor can list
Robots.txt rarely stops anything here (Method has the counts). The bigger risk sits in a firewall or challenge setting the owner has never looked at, and Muse arrives unlabeled: DataDome reported that Muse doesn't identify its requests as AI-agent traffic (PPC Land, Oct. 15, 2026).
Ask the vendor about the Agent group in Cloudflare's AI traffic settings (Cloudflare changelog, July 1, 2026), Bot Fight Mode (a free setting that challenges known bot patterns, with no exceptions through WAF custom rules or Page Rules) and any challenge rule on the quote and booking pages.
None of this means loosening spam protection or waving bots through. If the vendor's cloud-browser test gets stopped with no fallback, like a challenge a person can pass or a phone number, decide together what to change. Blocking Muse outright is a separate call.
Build integrations around a task the branch can fulfill
The seven fixes establish the foundation. A direct agent integration can then make a specific task easier: checking availability, requesting a quote or creating an appointment request that reaches the right office.
Meta's Muse Connector Platform accepts connector submissions for review, while its separate Meta AI connectors programme is in early access. As of November 1, we had found no public Muse connector announcement from ServiceTitan, Housecall Pro or Jobber. Ask your scheduling provider what it supports and test any integration against a real branch workflow.
For a custom build, define the task, the customer's confirmation step and the record the office receives. Use an accessible form or scheduler immediately, then add a connector when it gives customers a better way to complete that task. Our contractor census found very little contractor-owned agent infrastructure in the responses we could inspect, which leaves room for operators who prepare early.

Prepare today's customer paths and plan the next integration
Integration options to investigate
Plan the connection
- Muse connectors: Meta reviews submissions and lists no local-services category; we found none announced by ServiceTitan, Housecall Pro or Jobber
- Meta AI connectors: early access with limited spots; examples are fitness, productivity, entertainment and smart home
- Local connectors: Meta named eight early partners in Singapore on Oct 27, including Shopee and Grab; none announced for US home services
- Personal Agent Protocol: a public draft with no tagged release
- Agent files: none of 1,096 US contractor sites published an MCP server card, Personal Agent Protocol file or A2A agent card of its own
The seven fixes, grouped
Fix this month
- Your quote form and inbox: a real request gets through and a person answers fast (fixes 1 and 2)
- Your phone line and number: one rule for agent callers and one stable number on each branch page (fixes 3 and 4)
- Your Book link, prices and bot rules: a logged-out scheduler, published ranges, and rules your vendor can list in writing (fixes 5 to 7)
platform.muse.ai, dev.meta.ai connectors page, Meta Newsroom (Oct 27, 2026), personalagentprotocol.org and its GitHub repo, read Nov 1, 2026; Cheers census of 1,096 US home-service contractor websites from Google's local map results, Nov 1, 2026
What would change this list
Review these developments with your web and scheduling partners:
- A US local-services connector wave, or a Muse connector from your scheduling software vendor: turn it on and test a booking end to end.
- A Personal Agent Protocol release past the draft: ask that vendor whether it plans to support it.
- A Meta help page on Muse calls covering a disclosure line, caller ID or a business opt-out: update the fix 3 rule.
- A published Muse user agent or signing keys: have the web vendor label signed Muse traffic in analytics.
- Muse messaging businesses in WhatsApp, which would make each profile's WhatsApp line a fix.
Check the Google side as well with the agent-ready Business Profile guide, especially contact details, service areas and booking links.
Method
We requested each homepage once on Nov. 1, 2026 (06:57 to 07:00 UTC), plus robots.txt, llms.txt and /.well-known/mcp.json, using a standard desktop browser header, and re-fetched the readable homepages once at 12:54 to 12:55 UTC. We didn't pose as any AI crawler, submit forms or open inner pages. The agent-file checks ran live from 10:13 to 10:17 UTC the same day.
On Nov. 1, 2026, Cheers read the homepages of 1,096 US home-service contractor websites drawn from Google's local map results, with Cheers customers removed; 976 homepages were readable as served, 922 answered the re-fetch and 947 sites had a valid robots.txt. The frame came from five weekly scans starting Sept. 28, 2026. The census took every domain that held a top-three spot in at least half its appearances in those results, plus random draws from the rest, and re-weighting those groups to the full frame moves no contractor rate by more than 3.0 points.
We read raw homepage HTML with no JavaScript, so the form, booking and price rates are floors. CAPTCHA and booking matches are code-string matches.
On re-fetched contractor homepages with a form, a CAPTCHA script loaded on 30.9% (133 of 430); across all 922 re-fetched homepages it was 16.8% (155). Markup for a visible widget showed on 31 of the 922 (3.4%), though a widget that JavaScript draws later wouldn't appear in the raw HTML. We didn't check which element each script protects, so a script on the page doesn't prove it guards a form.
Of the 947 contractor sites with a valid robots.txt, 6.1% blocked at least one AI bot and 1.6% blocked an AI search or user agent.
Cloudflare sits in front of 460 of the 1,096 contractor sites, and we didn't test whether their bot settings stop agents. 43 of the 1,096 contractor sites (3.9%) refused our scripted homepage fetch with a 403; a 403 to our request doesn't show that a site blocks Muse.
The listings come from Cheers' weekly scans of Google's local map results in markets where 10 Cheers home-service customers operate, so they aren't a national random sample. The base is 15,795 competitor listings seen from Sept. 28 to Oct. 31, 2026. A missing link can also mean the scan didn't capture the field, so the booking-link rate is a floor.
The phone numbers are 900 numbers from ChatGPT answers in the Cheers Market Baseline, our own research panel, between Oct. 2 and Oct. 31, 2026, checked against each business's own website on Nov. 1. The US call-tracking comparison rests on 78 checkable numbers from sites with a tracking script and 280 from sites without one; it shows an association, not that call tracking caused the gap.
For the figure's outside data: DataDome, which sells bot protection and hasn't published the size of its network, said in its Q3 2026 report that 8.9% of the Muse requests it sampled reached a sensitive flow such as a form or a login, and form requests made up 81% of those (Help Net Security, Oct. 19, 2026). In Microsoft Clarity's study of 5.2 million agentic sessions (Aug. 13 to Sept. 9, 2026), 19.85% included a submit-form event; events overlap, and they don't show a task was finished. Clarity published it on Oct. 29, and the agents were OpenAI's, Google's and Anthropic's, not Muse.
Meta lists approved connectors inside the Muse app, which we didn't browse, so a home-service connector could be in the works.
The 15-minute and same-business-day reply bars are our own standards, and we haven't benchmarked them. Nothing in this article measures Muse directly, and every Muse fact comes from Meta or the dated reporting linked above.
