Google Search Console can now report how public content from Instagram, TikTok, X, and YouTube performs when people find it through Google. Google introduced platform properties on July 7, 2026 and announced global availability on July 29.

For a multi-location service brand, the useful question is not how to connect one social account. It is how to preserve ownership, market scope, service context, and the customer route when a central channel may contain work from 80 branches.
A platform property can show that a Phoenix heat-pump video earned Google impressions for a repair query. It cannot prove that the Phoenix branch created the video, that an AI answer recommended the company, or that the viewer booked a job. Those links still require an operating record.
Google's platform property documentation explains the supported accounts and reports. The home-service video SEO guide covers the crawlable page and media layer behind a useful recording. If the business question is which companies AI recommends by market, use the Cheers AI Visibility Grader, because platform properties answer a narrower Google discovery question.
Important
Treat each platform property as a measurement boundary. Label the account's real brand, market, or branch scope before comparing queries, posts, or clicks.

What a platform property measures
A platform property represents one supported social account or video channel. Google currently supports Instagram, TikTok, X, and YouTube. Each account or channel must be added as its own Search Console property, so a company with one YouTube channel and twelve local Instagram accounts would manage thirteen platform properties.
The Performance report can show clicks, impressions, click-through rate, average position, queries, content URLs, dates, countries, and devices. Discover and Google News reports appear only when the connected content receives traffic from those surfaces. The Insights report offers a simpler view of recent traffic, top content, and query groups.
The measurement boundary is Google. Google says platform properties do not report views or engagement inside TikTok, Instagram, X, or YouTube. A YouTube video played in Google's viewer can still count as a Search Console click. An Instagram story shown in Google Search can count as an impression. Those definitions are useful, but they are not interchangeable with native-platform analytics.
Google's July 29 announcement says platform properties are globally available. The Help Center still carries gradual-rollout language. Record what is visible in the signed-in property instead of treating either sentence as proof that a specific operator has access.

Map account scope before connecting anything
The property follows the account or channel, not the service location. That creates three common portfolio patterns.
A centralized HVAC brand may run one YouTube channel for every market. Search Console can report which videos and queries earned Google discovery, but the property does not automatically identify which branch supplied the technician, equipment, or customer route. The brand needs a content ledger that maps each published URL to a market, service line, branch owner, subject-matter approver, and destination page.
A med spa group may operate one Instagram account per studio. That creates cleaner location boundaries, but it also creates more ownership, login, and reconnection work. A franchise system may mix corporate accounts, franchisee accounts, and acquired brands that corporate marketing does not control. Access should follow actual authority, not the org chart someone wishes existed.
For every account, record whether the scope is brand-wide, regional, location-specific, franchisee-owned, or acquired-brand-owned. Then record who can authorize the connection and who will notice when it pauses. This is the same ownership discipline needed when location pages and customer routes are mapped across a portfolio.

Set up access that can survive staff changes
Google says a platform property can be verified through the supported account connection flow. Its property documentation also describes verification through an existing website relationship in eligible cases. If a business has already claimed its Search profile, verified social accounts may be added automatically.
The operational risk comes later. Google periodically checks ownership. If a platform login expires or the connection is lost, reporting pauses until the property is verified again. Google says re-verification restores access to the same report without restarting data collection, but a disconnected property can still sit unnoticed if no one owns the check.
Use a durable company-controlled account as the primary connection owner where the platform allows it. Give the central search or analytics owner access, then document the local marketing or operations owner who can verify the content and location scope. Do not build the reporting system around one agency login, former employee, or shared password.
After setup, expect a few days before data appears. New properties show only the period collected since connection, so a fresh 28-day chart is not a historical baseline. Save the connection date and wait for a complete comparison window before judging performance.
Read the reports without mixing totals
Start with the Performance report when the team needs exact queries, content URLs, countries, devices, or dates. Use the Insights report for a quick view of trend direction and grouped query themes. Google notes that the Insights summary can include clicks across web, image, video, and news search, while detailed lists below it may focus on web results. A mismatch between cards is not automatically a tracking failure.
The 24-hour filter can surface a video or post that suddenly earns Google discovery. The 28-day view is better for steady service demand and seasonality. An HVAC group can compare a short condenser-noise clip with a longer maintenance walkthrough. A med spa operator can see whether a treatment explanation or a studio tour is earning search discovery. A pest control brand can spot renewed interest in an older termite video before the seasonal campaign is rebuilt.
Google also supports export and cross-property comparison. That matters because Instagram, TikTok, X, and YouTube remain separate properties. Build one portfolio report with a stable account identifier, content URL, query, date, country, device, market scope, and local destination. Do not sum native views, Search Console impressions, and website sessions into one visibility number.
Turn query evidence into location-level work
A query is useful when it changes a content or customer-path decision.
Suppose a central YouTube channel earns impressions for "why is my AC leaking in Phoenix." The content owner should inspect the exact video, verify that Phoenix is genuinely in scope, and check whether the description or owned page routes the viewer to the correct branch. The next asset might be a more specific condensate-drain explanation. It should not be 40 city-name copies of the same recording.
If a local Instagram account earns Google discovery for a med spa treatment question, the studio can compare that post with the corresponding treatment and location pages. The visual proof, practitioner claims, availability, and booking destination should agree. The photo evidence guide explains how to keep service images attached to accurate visible text instead of treating media as a ranking shortcut.
Google's own analysis guide recommends using rising query groups, cross-platform export, format comparisons, captions, titles, and annotations to improve content. For a service brand, add one more gate: the branch must be able to deliver the service and receive the lead the content attracts.
Keep discovery separate from AI visibility and revenue
Platform property data does not show whether ChatGPT, Gemini, Claude, Perplexity, or Grok used a post as a source. It does not show whether a Google AI answer recommended the business, whether a Google Business Profile appeared, or whether a customer booked.
Use Search Console platform properties for Google discovery of social and video content. Use native analytics for reach and engagement inside each platform. Use website analytics, call tracking, forms, booking systems, and CRM records for the customer path. Use controlled prompt and source checks for AI visibility by market.
The AI search traffic measurement guide explains why appearances, citations, referral visits, and booked demand need separate ledgers. Platform properties add a useful social and video layer to that stack. They do not collapse it.

Run the first 30 days as a controlled rollout
- Week 1: Inventory every supported account, label its brand or location scope, identify the owner, and connect only accounts the organization has authority to verify.
- Week 2: Confirm reporting is active, save the connection date, and map each priority post or video to its service, market, approver, and customer destination.
- Week 3: Review queries and content URLs, then test one title, caption, cross-promotion, or follow-up asset tied to a real customer question. Add an annotation when the change is made.
- Week 4: Export the properties, compare Google discovery without mixing native metrics, verify the branch handoff, and assign the next content decision by market.
The first success condition is not a larger impression total. It is a report where the team can identify the account, content, query, location scope, and customer route without guessing.
